April marks the opening of poker season for the most part. The first big event to kick it off is the World Poker Tour Championship held at Bellagio each April. This year there were 335 players ponying up the $25,000 entry fee. This is down significantly from last years 559 players. I doubt the winner of the $2 million first place prize will complain much.
Almost every big name in the game entered the event. The two notciable absenses were Doyle Brunson and Patrik Antonius. Doyle was too busy and Patrik is in Monte Carlo.
Speaking of Monte Carlo, the nest big stop on the poker circuit will be the EPT Grand Finale in Monaco. This will likely be the largest poker tournament prize pool ever outside of the United States.
After all of this the marathon that is the World Series of Poker starts at the end of may. GL and run like god.
